+ BACKGROUND
Jonathan practices Civil and Commercial Litigation at Sutherland Law. His practice focuses on Breach of Contract claims, Construction Litigation, Employment Law, Landlord and Tenant Law, Estates Law, Bankruptcy and Insolvency and Family Law. Jonathan is a zealous advocate, committed to providing effective and efficient legal representation in order to successfully achieve each client’s targeted objectives.
Prior to joining Sutherland Law, Jonathan developed his litigation skills while articling at a boutique Civil Litigation law firm. He has broad experience representing clients before various levels of court including the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice. Jonathan also represents clients before administrative tribunals including the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
Jonathan has extensive experience successfully conducting trials, complex multi-day summary judgment motions, applications, and appeals before Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court and Court of Appeal. Many of these cases have produced reported decisions by the judiciary, which further develop the case law in Ontario.
Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University and earned his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario and the State of Florida.
Throughout his post-secondary academic pursuits, Jonathan gained valuable knowledge and experience working in the construction industry for a private residential land developer and homebuilder. His unique business and construction background enable him to provide insight and guidance to each client in order to assist in resolving their legal disputes.
During his leisure time, Jonathan enjoys living an active lifestyle through regularly participating in competitive sports and calisthenics training. He is an avid traveler that has visited more than 20 countries across 3 continents.
